Rocket Shine Sponsors Local School Rocketry Programs

This school year, Rocket Shine Car Wash continues its commitment to Southwest Florida by sponsoring local schools in rocketry-related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) projects.

Today, Rocket Shine gave $500 to kick-off East Lee County High School’s first-ever team in the Team America Rocketry Challenge (www.rocketcontest.org), the world’s largest student rocketry contest.  The team was organized by Assistant Principal Brian Gibson, and will be guided by teacher William Holohan. Rocket Shine expects to sponsor at least one more local team in the Team America Rocketry Challenge.

Rocket Shine will also sponsor (and volunteer in) Punta Gorda Middle School’s annual rocketry event, which includes hundreds of the school's students launching air-and-water powered rockets. That event will run on February 13th and 14th, 2019. Punta Gorda Middle School teacher Timothy Jesse facilitated Rocket Shine's involvement in the event.

According to Rocket Shine CEO Max Levine, “Southwest Florida needs stronger community ties, and that includes businesses stepping up to help educate our children.  We’re happy for the opportunity to promote fun and educational STEM projects that dovetail perfectly with our brand and our commitment to community.”

The Cardome Group of Companies, dba Rocket Shine Car Wash, has one car wash in Fort Myers, on the Northeast corner of Colonial Boulevard and Veronica Shoemaker.  It is also building a brand new wash in Punta Gorda, on US 41 right next to the Public Service building.

Rocket Shine’s community support includes frequent sponsorship of (and volunteer participation in) charity events, a team in the Jr. NBA Basketball League, free car washes for volunteers and employees of the Guardian ad Litem Foundation, and free washes for veterans on Veterans’ Day. In July, Rocket Shine gave away a full year of wash club membership during a fundraiser next-door at Sideline's Bar and Grill for Officer Jobbers-Miller, the Fort Myers Police Department officer who was killed in the line of duty.
